Guide to Your Frames

Some like them during sunny summer days, some like it all seasons of the year (365 day), and some don’t care about it at all. I personally love to wear them everywhere, pretty much if its sunny, you will see me me wearing it.

I see everyday people wearing sunglasses that don’t fit right and it led me to write this article and i hope this will help to be a guide for all with additional research on your own. It may seem so simple to pick a pair of sunglasses, however, there are elements and factors that must be considered before picking your next pair. One of the most important one in my opinion is your Facial Shape and choosing a frame that is yours.

It’s necessary to pick a pair of glasses that agrees with your facial structure to ensure you’re looking your best all while protecting your vision. There are ways to measure your face shape, however, we will not get into that at this time, because that is an entire topic in itself.

These are main face shapes:

Round: Round faces have softer edges and cheekbones are the widest part of the face. Both height and width are approximately equal. Slim, angular sunglasses work well with this face shape.

Heart: Heart-shaped faces have narrow cheekbones and a pointed chin. Brow line sunglasses wider at the top than bottom will balance it by bringing the focus to the center of your face. Bulky frames will not work here for sure.

Square: Square faces are similar to round ones in that the height and width of the profile is relatively the same, however, the jawline and chin are broader and more defined. Rounder frames can help soften the features of your face, however, edgier choices can reinforce the sharp features of your face. It all depends what type of look you are looking for here.

Oval: Oval faces have slightly wider and higher cheekbones, height greater than width. Stylistically speaking, oval faces most types of frames suits oval faces.

Wayfarer Style

Kennedy frequently wore Wayfarer-style sunglasses in public. Ray Ban Wayfarers, which took advantage of new plastic molding technology, marked the transition between a period of eyewear made from thin metal frames to an era of plastic eyewear.

Aviator Style

Aviator sunglasses are a style of sunglasses that were developed by Bausch & Lomb. The original Bausch & Lomb design is now marketed as Ray-Ban Aviators, although other manufacturers also produce aviator style sunglasses. My personal favorite is Aviator Style and for the most part it looks good on all.

Round Frame Style

As everything else in Fashion comes back to style, these frame styles are from 20’s and 30’s. Round Sunglasses are a fresh and modern approach to a very cool and classic style of frame. No one has worn round sunglasses in a more iconic way than the legendary John Lennon. Round sunglasses have also been recently popularized by many celebrities and fashion icons around the world.

My personal favorite brands to check out: Zegna and Ray-Ban

Key points to remember:

  1. When in doubt, always go classic, because it doesn’t go out of style.
  2. Don’t buy sunglasses online. Try to avoid it all all cost.
  3. Highly recommended to try glasses before you buy them to make sure it fits your face shape.
  4. It not just about what’s in fashion, its more about what looks good on you.
  5. Never rush picking your glasses, take your time when you make that decision.

I was right on my guess on Instagram! This actually reminds me of my teen years when a particular shape of Gucci shades was all the hype and I walked into a store and tried them on to find that they didn’t look good on me. At all. The salesperson actually asked me “Do you want to buy glasses that actually look good on you or do you just want these because of the brand?” That’s probably when I realized she was so right. Ever since I have not gone with what’s trending, but instead what fits my face and just as you I’ve discovered aviators are the best choice for me.
